About Us
The Conservation Campaign is a national nonprofit organization with the mission of mobilizing voter support for ballot measures and legislation that create public funds to protect land and water resources. 2008 will be a major election year for conservation ballot measures. Our newly redesigned website www.conservationcampaign.org is the premier resource for conservation campaigns and online activists alike, delivering important campaigns services and news.
Scope of Services
* 25% Monthly E-Newsletter: Write and deploy a monthly e-newsletter to our roster of activist-minded volunteers and donors with calls to action, news of campaigns that meet activists’ interests, and tailored online giving opportunities through our website.
* 25% Campaign Wizard: Market our Campaign Wizard and guide users through the set-up process. Our Campaign Wizard service allows local campaigns to design, customize, and publicize their own free campaign website with easy-to-use templates.
* 40% Update Campaign Content: Supplement our automatically updating data on campaigns happening across the country with compelling stories about each campaign and how people can get involved. This will require researching articles online and conducting phone interviews with local campaign staff and volunteers.
* 10% Drive Traffic to the Site: Contact other groups to add links on various webpages and utilize blogs, listservs, or social networking sites to spread the word about the Conservation Campaign.
Desired Qualifications:
· Excellent writing skills.
· Interest and experience in campaigns and grassroots organizing (volunteer experience is OK).
· Creative ideas on mobilizing a grassroots constituency.
· Comfortable using simple web editing and e-newsletter tools (no html knowledge needed).
· Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
· Passion for land conservation.
Position Details:
This is a part-time, independent contractor position (no benefits) with an estimated time commitment of 10 hours a week. The schedule is flexible and may be done remotely, with periodic in-person meetings at our downtown Boston office (accessible via public transportation). Hourly rate of $20-$40 based on experience.

• Has years of public relations experience including new client development
BS/BA in marketing, communications, PR, journalism or related field is mandatory
Compensation: 20% commission on new accounts plus pay per project opps.
