eZdia work at home and freelance jobs may be a scam.
eZdia sent me an unsolicited email today for two freelance writing jobs. I was immediately suspicious. I am not actively promoting my writing services right now so there is absolutely no reason someone would contact me out of the blue. A little bit of digging online uncovers numerous reports and complaints about eZdia posting fake freelance jobs on various freelance sites including oDesk. Be very wary if you receive an email from eZdia, it is a scam. This particular email is looking for someone with Platinum Level Accounts on ezines. eZdia wants you to write articles (probably talking about how great eZdia is, but I don't know for sure) and post them to your ezine accounts. If you do this, you will end up ruining your hard won reputation and respected status on the ezine and even risk violating their Terms and Conditions and getting yourself kicked off completely. Do not accept work promoting a company who is a scam. Do your research and protect your reputation.
UPDATE June 1, 2015: An employee of eZdia commented on this post defending the company, claiming that they have changed how they do business. (See comment below.) I agreed that the post was several years old, and went to the company website to see what I could find. It seems that eZdia has evolved into a content management platform that is marketed to businesses. One of the services they offer to these businesses are writers willing and able to write content on behalf of these businesses. On the surface, this seems very legitimate. Should you find yourself writing on behalf of eZdia where your content is published to eZdia driven websites, and you're paid a respectable wage for your efforts, I'd say you've found a good job. I have not applied to write for eZdia and cannot comment on the compensation they offer.
