Work for Merchant Circle as a home based Sales Rep

Join our new Local Advertiser Onramp Initiative and help local businesses find more customers online.

MerchantCircle is building a new program that will pay local reps for signing up local businesses on MerchantCircle and for selling merchants a monthly subscription that would provide a complete set of online local advertising benefits. We are looking for reps nationwide to help improve small businesses' ability to find more customers online.

We believe some of the most effective sales reps will be local businesses (like yours) that have already signed up for and are using MerchantCircle. We also believe that successful sales reps are likely to be from cities where there are already a lot of local businesses that have signed up for MerchantCircle.

Based on these beliefs, we are inviting merchants that meet these two criteria to join the program. You could become a MerchantCircle sales rep for your town and get paid for educating local businesses and helping them find more customers with online advertising. The program is in test mode through June and will launch in July.

The program is free to join and provides significant marketing benefits to help you find more customers online. After all, what better way to help you become a great rep than to have a great experience using the service and product you will be signing merchants up for and selling to them so they can find more customers online.

If you are interested, please email us with questions or comments at salesprogram@merchantcircle.com and we will send you more information.

How to Find Craft Shows

Craft Shows, Flea Markets, Farmer's Markets and Bazaars can be great places to sell your products whether they are used goods, retail/direct sale items, or hand made crafts.

Tip: Call the event number and ask if they are still accepting vendors and what the fee is. Also make sure your type of product is a fit with the other types of products being sold. For example, a flea market with only used items at very low prices will not produce many sales. On the other hand, some craft shows only allow hand made items, not retail.

  • Check your local newspaper in the community news section for upcoming craft shows, craft fairs, flea markets (make sure these are featuring crafts and retail items and not just yard sale stuff), church bazaars, and other similar events.

  • You may also receive a news paper or classifieds paper in the mail, these are also great resources.

  • Craft Lister

  • Art and Craft Shows

  • Craft Fair Online

"I Would Love to Work From Home, but . .

But I keep trying and failing!" is what I hear all the time!

I have a few questions for those of you have this problem with Direct Sales:

1.) Were you passionate about the products you sold?

2.) How long were you with each company?

If you answered "no" to number 1, then the problem is easy to identify. It's hard to sell something you are not 100% behind. If you doubt it, then others will too. Passion for what you do is very important. It also helps to have a product that "sells itself". These type of products include food items that customers can taste and have to have, jewelry that looks too cool not to have, children's books which parents and kids want and find value in, makeup, etc. There are too many companies out there that are selling the business, not the products. A very high percent in these companines fail because they don't know how to sell the product, and their team doesn't stick around because they joined for the wrong reasons.

2.)If you did love the company, the truth is, success won't happen overnight. You need to track your success, and should have at least 1 year under your belt to see this. Not only should you track your success, but your activity. Ex, here is what a good week should look like where you can say "yes, I worked it"

  • Monday, make 5 connected calls. Out of that, 1 books a party, andset up a meeting to set up a bookfair/meeting/something.

  • Tuesday, make 5 connected calls. No one is interested now.

  • Wednesday: Meet with school, etc. Set up event

  • Thursday, 5 connected calls, one is a follow up recruit. She joins. Other 4, I get one booking

  • Friday, off

  • Saturday, hold a workshop.

If you are not doing the activity, you will fail miserably. I've found the 5 connected calls a day, even on days where it is 100% rejection, turn into gold. Often rejection isn't really rejection.

25 connected calls should = at least 1 - 2 new team members, and 4 events on your calendar.

Hope that helps!
