One of the down sides to working from home can be the lack of support. You need to be an expert at everything from organization and time management to maintence and technology. It is Christmas Eve and I have spent the last three days trying to get my network up and running after my cable modem died. The ordeal started with an emergency trip to Staples for a new modem. And I thought to myself, why not pick up a wireless networking hub while I'm here and get rid of that cable running, not across the floor, but two feet in the air because it's too short? It sounded like a good plan. I get home and I plug everything in the right places and install all the right software. It's not working. An hour on the phone trying to reach someone at the cable company and the new modem is registered and all is good. I walk away and come back a few hours later, the internet is down. Two days later and hours on the phone with various tech support companies and the whole connection is still going down every couple of hours.
Well, at least I work from home and got all my holiday shopping and wrapping done by last Wednesday!
