Telecommuting in a technology career is far more likely than just about any other industry. If you already have top notch computer, programing, graphic design, or other technology based skills or are considering going back to college, this is the industry to be in for telecommuting and freelance work. I believe the reason telecommuting is so common in technology companies is tri-fold.
